ShareAction website headshots (July 2015)

London-based charity for responsible investment, ShareAction, asked me to take headshot photographs of their staff for new website profiles. Here’s what their Director of Communications thought of my work:

“Sam came to the office and took professional headshots of our entire staff for use on our website and in fundraising literature. Not only did he take great pictures, he was really personable and good at getting our staff to relax and come across their best in the pictures. He didn’t interfere too much with the work day but made sure we got a great set of professional photographs we can use in a variety of settings in the future. I’d wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone considering this kind of work.”

Xu Bing exhibition launch, Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge (April 2015)

Xu Bing is the President of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, and was in Cambridge as a CRASSH Humanitas Visiting Professor in Chinese Studies, in which capacity he was launching a small installation of his birdcages in the Fitzwilliam Museum. The Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH), University of Cambridge, asked me to photograph the event.

“Sam supplied us with a collection of really wonderful pictures of Xu Bing and his installation, “Birdcages”. He also got great shots of the audience interacting with the art. We were delighted with his work.”

Chitra, Isaac, Sasha and Maya, Cambridge

An outdoor Spring shoot with local Cambridge parents, Chitra and Isaac, their daughter, Maya, and Grandfather, Sasha. Wandlebury is such a nice location for natural portraits!

“Sam has an easy charm and a genuine warmth that makes him great with kids. He took the time to connect with our daughter so that she was comfortable and relaxed, and able to be herself. Maya’s sweet but impish personality shines through in his portraits and we get compliments constantly on the prints displayed in our home. Sam has done portraits of her as a baby and as a toddler, and we will definitely come back to him as she grows older – and will cherish these photos forever.”

A commission from Dr. Charles Tracy, Art Historian, to picture the choir stalls and the Bishop’s Chair at Hereford Cathedral. The pictures are now published in English Episcopal Thrones (Summer 2014).

“I was delighted with Samuel’s images. I bowled him something of an off break, with the lighting problem, but he seemed to relish it! How I wish all my pictures of choir-stalls could have been as crisp and well-lit. I was very grateful for his trouble and expertise.”
